About Parkersburg-Marietta Building & Construction Trades Council
The Parkersburg-Marietta Building & Construction Trades Council (PMBTC) represents local construction unions and their members in West Virginia and Ohio. It is an affiliate of North America’s Building Trades Unions and pushes for fair wages, safe working conditions, and good apprenticeship training. Its jurisdiction covers several counties, and it works to support workers and help the construction industry grow.
The business challenge
PMBTC had an outdated single-page website that did little for members or the community. They needed a modern site where members could read monthly notes, make payments, and find key resources, and where the public could learn how to join a union or find local union services. They had pictured this upgrade for years and needed a partner to pin down the ideas and build a working site that looked good.
What we did
We built a WordPress website around PMBTC’s needs, using a flexible theme with plugins and custom code. Global styles are easy to manage, and templates make new pages simple to put together. The main features are a member portal with exclusive resources, online payment of yearly fees by ACH, and forms for submitting paperwork. We supported PMBTC from start to finish and worked closely with them to refine the plan, and we made sure the site works well on phones and desktops.
What happened
PMBTC now has a platform that does more for its members and keeps them, and the local community, better connected.
