About Star of India
Star of India is a full-service restaurant in Marietta serving authentic Indian food, including traditional tandoori dishes and freshly made naan. It is family-owned and operated and cares about quality, flavor, and customer satisfaction. Star of India also caters private parties and brings its food to special events.
The business challenge
Star of India was fed up with the high fees third-party food delivery apps charged, even for pickup. Most of their customers prefer pickup, so they needed a way to take orders directly through their website and skip those fees. Their web presence was also underperforming, and they needed staff to get a prompt alert whenever an order came in online.
What we did
We built a new website focused on direct online pickup orders. After researching the options, we added an online ordering system to a WordPress site that met their requirements. It includes markup options to cover payment processing fees, plus tipping, so orders stay profitable. Working with the client, we set up a dedicated laptop for watching orders, with audible alerts for staff. We walked them through setting up online payment processing, including account creation and business verification. The system only accepts orders during restaurant hours and can be adjusted for holidays or closures. Finally, we made sure the site was properly indexed so customers could find it.
What happened
With a system built for them, Star of India serves customers directly and keeps its margins, and it controls its own online presence.
