About Medlining Machine Works, LLC
Medlining Machine Works, LLC sells solvent trap cleaning kits designed by their founder, Dan Medlin. Their solvent traps are made 100% in the USA from US grade materials. The business is privately owned and operated, based in Marietta, OH, and sells nationally.
The business challenge
Until then, Medlining Machine Works had sold online through a long-term partner. Communication with him broke down, and eventually he told them he would no longer sell for them. Medlining Machine Works decided to take control of their online sales and improve them, which meant they needed an e-commerce site. They also wanted a handle on client communication, since some customers were placing unwarranted calls to their house and sending run-on emails.
What we did
Their old vendor’s site was simple and had a handful of usability issues and errors. The new site needed at least everything the old one did. It also had to handle product bundles, barrel thread selection when adding an assembly to the cart, and purchases of special parts. We would help design and build the new site with the flow they wanted, and supply the documentation and training material they needed.
What happened
Once the sitemap and visual style were set, we built out the user flow page by page and added content as Medlining provided it. The flow puts the shop front and center and walks buyers through their purchase. Every field on the contact forms has a character limit, which stops bloated messages and keeps client communication under control. At the owner’s request we built a fully custom product page experience. With the new site, backed by written and video documentation, Medlining Machine Works now manages its own online store.
